Veggie Fest Chicago Does It Again! August 12th-13th

The 12TH Annual Veggie Fest Returns to Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois  – AUGUST 12 & 13, 2017

Foodies, once again it’s time to get your veg on!

This summer, the much-anticipated Veggie Fest Chicago event returns to the campus of Benedictine University, 5700 College Rd., Lisle, IL 60532, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on August 12th and 13th, 2017. One of the largest vegetarian food and lifestyle festivals in North America, last year, this two-day event drew record-breaking crowds of over 40,000 people from around the world. With a huge international food court; health professionals speaking on diet, lifestyle, and environmental issues; engaging food demos by restaurant owners, chefs, and authors; an incredible children’s tent with face painting, clowns, and crafts; live music from some of Chicago’s best bands and over 100 vendor booths to explore, Veggie Fest has quickly become one of the best summer festivals in the United States.

If you love to eat, the 12th annual Veggie Fest is sure to make your taste buds happy. If you’re a vegetarian, rest assured that this is an event where you can finally eat something at every single booth in the international food court. New to vegetarian food? No worries. You’re sure to find tasty treats that make you say, “Wow, I didn’t know vegetarian food could be so good!” Not eating dairy? No problem – there’s plenty of delicious raw and vegan cuisine at this year’s Veggie Fest from around the entire Chicagoland area.

To whet the appetite, here are a few highlights you won’t want to miss this year: The Caribbean Kitchen booth, a Veggie Fest favorite, will be back to tempt festival goers with crispy, spicy, veggie-chicken dishes. There’s a reason why people happily form long lines for these every year. If you’ve never experienced eating South Indian dosas – crispy lentil crepes filled with savory potatoes and onions – you’ve got a treat waiting for you at this popular booth. New dishes added to the food court this year include an Indonesian booth, three new varieties of pies, sweet lassis, and a new assortment of Indian snacks, including Raj Kachori, Papdi, and Bhelpuri. Not familiar with them? Head on out to Veggie Fest so you can get acquainted with these international delights!

Already a fan of authentic ethnic food? Then you’ll appreciate the wide variety of vegetarian entrees from Veggie Fest booths serving Chinese, Japanese, Indian, and Mexican foods along with plenty of goodies your kids will love, including pizza, ice cream and burgers. For lighter fare, swing by the organic salad booth or vendors blending up sweet fruit smoothies and squeezing fresh juice to naturally quench your thirst.

Whether you’re into salty or sweet, Veggie Fest’s got you covered with baked goods, iced cappuccinos, fresh fruits, and fresh young coconuts cracked open right in front of you, not to mention nachos, fries, and veggie kabobs straight off the grill. When you’re not noshing away on delicious veg fare, head on over to the speakers lounge to learn from dozens of experts sharing tips on diet, lifestyle, and environmental issues; engaging food demos by restaurant owners, chefs, and authors; an incredible children’s tent with face painting, clowns, and crafts; and live music and dancing from some of Chicago’s best bands. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes!

This year’s Veggie Fest welcomes several new features: In addition to coupon books for thousands of dollars of merchandise redeemable at local vendors and the opportunity to take the popular 14-day vegetarian challenge, yoga classes will be a new feature at this year’s Veggie Fest.
