Organic Tour of Bracciano, Italy

By Oreeko

Lake Bracciano is one of my favorite destinations to visit and relax when I’m in Rome. Less than an hour away from Northern Rome, Lake Bracciano offers a mix of good food, culture, nature and sports, making it the ideal spot from the caos and confusion of the city.

Bracciano is one of the three towns that sit on the lake. It has a lot of character and is very well kept. It’s famous for the medieval 15th century Castello Orsini-Odescalchi overlooking the lake. Today the castle is used to host cultural events, photo shoots, exhibitions and even weddings, including many celebrity ceremonies such as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

Isn’t this adorable? A nice vegetable garden. It’s very common in Italy for people to grow their own food if they have a small piece of land.

I couldn’t resist finding old doors to photograph. It’s officially a habit now, every time I visit a new place, I’m always on the lookout for antique door or windows. Check our my post on 10 Ideas on How to Recycle Doors.

When you visit, please be respectful of the residents of Bracciano. As you can see in the picture below part of the charm of this town is the care and love the locals put into it. This is their home.

Quite often widows and doors are left open but that’s not an invite to stick your head inside. Just be mindful that real people live there.
