The Hôtel du Temps Paris is what’s commonly referred to as a ‘hidden gem’–a place where chilled out, low key people who appreciate warm staff and cool decor go to sip coffee, read magazines, and hang out. Oh, and you can sleep there, too!
The charming, retro-style boutique hotel is located in Paris’s hip 9th Arrondissement, just a few minutes’ walk from the famous Galeries Lafayette shopping centre. The design was created by designer Alix Thomsen and set designer Laure Léonard, a duo that represents the best of artistic jeunesse of the French capital: carefree, creative and free.
The completely eco-friendly decor was sourced from flea and small local antique shops to create a vintage tropical 70s vibe–very rare in Paris! Modernist lamps mesh comfortably with reupholstered chairs that wouldn’t look out of place in The Brady Bunch. Hallways are lined with all-natural jute half-height screens, floors are lined with retro tiles and unique, quirky-cool decorative items never fail to surprise guests.
The 23 homey rooms were recently refurbished with minimal intervention to the existing structure of the centuries-old building that houses the hotel. Exposed beams and original floors are whitewashed and offset by vintage tropical-print curtains and bedding. Guests will be further delighted to see luxurious, all-organic Aeosp products lining their bathrooms. This is almost reason enough in itself to stay at the hotel!
The lower floor of the hotel not only serves fresh juices, salads, nuts, cocktails and freshly baked goods to guests, but locals as well, who often stop in for some interesting chit chat with the young married couple who own the hotel. During the day, there are sometimes Pop-Up Shops held in the lobby, whilst evenings may host small parties with big surprises, such as a DJ set by The Strokes at a recent soiree at the hotel.
Whether you need a place to stay in Paris or just want to meet friends for a non-pretentious, cozy evening out, it’s always time to visit the Hotel du Temps.
