Instead of using harsh chemicals to clean your house that can cause irritations on the skin, allergy problems and are harmful for the health as a whole, you can turn to natural cleaning resources. Essential oils combined with other substances like vinegar, baking soda and lemon have many cleaning and disinfecting properties.
Tea tree essential oil, for example is a pure disinfectant from nature that can be used against bacteria, viruses and fungi. Being antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, it is a very common ingredient when fighting against acne, warts, blisters and bites from insects. However, it can be used as an ingredient for making your own natural multi-purpose cleaner.
You can make the all-purpose cleaner very easily. The ingredients you will need for it are:
- 2 tablespoons of tea tree oil
- 2 cups of water
- A spray bottle
Mix the tea tree oil and water in the spray bottle and shake well. Use this spray for cleaning common areas like handles, door knobs, toys and almost every surface. It is a non-toxic and effective cleaning product, easy to be made.
Another all-purpose cleaner that you can make for not more than five minutes also includes tea tree oil. It is affordable, safe for the health and as efficient as the other cleaning products that are sold in stores. This cleaner makes the surfaces scented, kills fungi, viruses and bacteria because of the presence of tea tree oil.
To make 3 cups and a half of this cleaner you will need:
- Half cup of white vinegar
- 3 cups of water
- A quarter teaspoon of tea tree oil (about ten drops of the oil)
- A one-quart spray bottle
- 10 drops of other favourite essential oil for scent (this is optional)
Use a one-quart spray bottle to mix all ingredients and shake them to receive a consistent texture. You can add a couple of drops of another essential oil to make a fragrant cleaner if you like. This recipe is used by many companies like CleanToPerfection Southfields
This cleaner is suitable to be used on almost all hard surfaces like worktops, floors, sinks. It is also appropriate for cleaning windows and mirrors which won’t have any streaks after they dry well.
To create a mould and mildew cleaner, you have to mix 25 drops of tea tree oil and a cup of white vinegar in a spray bottle that is reusable. Spray this on mould and mildew and let it work for 10 minutes. After that, wipe away using a damp sponge.
You can make your own antiseptic soap using 2 cups of already melted glycerine soap for base and 2 tablespoons of tea tree oil. Stir the ingredient until they blend well and pour in soap moulds. Let the soap cool down.
Add 50 drops of tea tree essential oil to a bucket of water and use this product to clean tiled floors and worktops.
Another way to create a DIY all-purpose cleaner using essential tea tree is by mixing 15 drops of the oil with a quart warm water in a spray bottle that can be reused. Shake and spray on the surfaces you want to clean. To create a more concentrated cleaning product which can be used as a disinfectant for toilets, blend 2 cups of water with 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil.
Using the scenting and disinfecting properties of the tea tree, you can create effective and absolutely harmless for the health cleaning products that can be used in your house. Apply these easy to do recipes and polish and cleanse the surfaces in your house instead of buying the detergents that contain toxic chemicals, sold in stores. The cleaning process will be much more pleasant when using these eco-friendly products for sanitising.
