Ginger Delight Mocktail Recipe

Valentine’s is a Perfect Day for Charity’s Ginger Delight Mocktail!

Ever wonder how Valentine’s Day became synonymous with love and romance?  Yes, me too, so I did some research on the topic. Alas, Tina Turner’s old hit “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” sums up the somewhat dark past of Valentine’s Day.

Who could forget the fabulous movies taking place in Roman times, the way men loved women and the way women loved to be loved?  Although there were some great films, the truth is Roman men really did hit on women, albeit not in the way we use the phrase today.  Yes, between February 13 and February 15th, the notoriously wild, and crazy Roman men would slaughter a goat and a dog and then whip women with the hides of the slain animals. Women lined up to be hit on by the men because they believed it made them fertile.  Everyone was running around drunk and naked for the festivities. To find a match the men would draw a woman’s name from a jar, and they would be matched up for the night and maybe longer if it was a good match.

Wow, think about it, the first daring dating games, the first www.match.roman.   Don’t let this Valentine’s Day history story get you down.  It’s just history.  Put on your red party dress and enjoy the sweetest of festivities.

Then came Shakespeare and Chaucer who are credited for putting the romance into Valentine’s day. The handmade cards became the trendy way for lovers to let their hearts be known, a tradition that stuck.

While the ancient history of Valentine’s Day is sobering, staying sober on Valentine’s Day is so much easier when you don’t consume large quantities of alcohol! Health-conscious drinks like Mocktails ensure the romantic night under the moonlight doesn’t get messed up.   To that end, we offer you a very healthy, sexy and irresistible Valentine Day Mocktail called Ginger Delight, crafted by Charity K. Johnson from Roku Sunset on the famous Sunset Strip!   Charity was awarded 2016 Zagat’s 30 under 30 Redefining the Industry! We had more than one of Charity’s Ginger Delights while filming her shaking them up for Party Like a Mockstar!  We love them, and we know you will too!  If you stop by Roku Sunset at 9201 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069 tell the mixologist that Conscious Living and Zoe sent you.  Happy Valentine’s Day and Mock On!
