Vegan Hot Fudge Sundae Cake Recipe

When it’s time for dessert, everyone loves a yummy hot fudge Sundae. This recipe wraps all the traditional ingredients into one scrumptious vegan and gluten-free cake. Enjoy!

CAKE
1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
½ cup Sucanat
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
½ cup unsweetened plant-based milk
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup roughly chopped walnuts
FUDGE TOPPING
½ cup Sucanat
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1¾ cups hot water
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, Sucanat, cocoa powder, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Add the milk, applesauce, vanilla, and walnuts and stir until combined. Spread the batter into a 9-inch square baking pan.
3. To make the fudge topping, sprinkle the Sucanat and cocoa
over the batter in the pan. Pour the hot water over the batter. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the top of the cake is dry. This is a wet, fudgy dessert that needs to be spooned into dessert cups. Serve warm.
